Visiting Angels - Providing Senior Homecare By Angels®
Welcome. Visiting Angels is the nation’s leading, nationally respected network of non-medical, private duty home care agencies providing senior care, elder care, personal care, respite care and companion care to help the elderly and adults continue to live in their homes across America.
Visiting Angels is the family alternative to assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Our caring and experienced caregivers provide up to 24 hour care in the comfort of your own home, at affordable rates. Our services make possible for our clients to remain in their home instead of being placed in a nursing home or institutional facility.
Odyssey HealthCare
At Odyssey HealthCare, we improve the quality of life for patients facing terminal diagnoses and provide support for their loved ones.
We've been meeting this need since 1996. Today, Odyssey is one of the largest hospice providers in the country, offering end-of-life care and support to thousands of patients and their families across the country each day.
Our teams of caregivers consist of registered nurses, physicians, home healthcare aides, social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors and trained volunteers. They provide what is called palliative care to the patient, that is, care that helps ease pain and discomforting symptoms. In addition, they provide psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Patients typically receive our services in their own homes or in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. But we also serve patients in hospitals or, in certain geographic locations, in Odyssey's own freestanding hospice facilities.
NAELA
The NAELA membership is comprised of attorneys in the private and public sectors who deal with legal issues affecting the elderly and disabled. Members also include judges, professors of law, and students.
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. (NAELA) was founded in 1988 as a professional association of attorneys who are dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to the elderly.
The primary focus of the Academy is education. The Academy sponsors continuing legal education programs on elder law for attorneys throughout the year, and provides publications and educational materials to its members on a wide range of elder law topics.
Dream Foundation
Dream Foundation, founded in Santa Barbara in 1994 by Thomas Rollerson to honor the memory of Timothy Scott Palmer, is the first and largest national wish-granting organization for adults with life-limiting illness.
The mission of Dream Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their families during the end of life’s journey.
Dream Foundation helps adults find peace and closure with the realization of a final wish.
The work of Dream Foundation is made possible in part by a grant from Odyssey HealthCare Foundation.
Make-A-Wish Foundation®
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 144,000 children around the world.
Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.
A network of more than 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.
The Veterans History Project
The Veterans History Project relies on volunteers to collect and preserve stories of wartime service.
Our primary focus is on first-hand accounts of
U.S. Veterans from the following wars:
- World War I (1914-1920)
- World War II (1939-1946)
- Korean War (1950-1955)
- Vietnam War (1961-1975)
- Persian Gulf War (1990-1995)
- Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts (2001-present)
In addition, those U.S. citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also invited to share their valuable stories.
